Writers x Brick Books: 50 Years of Canadian Poetry

Join us as Brick Books celebrates 50 years of publishing Canadian poetry with a special event at Writers at Woody Point, honouring the past, present, and future of poetry – especially as it lives and thrives in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Hosted by Michael Crummey – one of Brick’s most beloved and internationally recognized authors, and a writer deeply rooted in this place – this intimate afternoon features readings by acclaimed poets Anna Swanson and Matthew Hollett, whose work continues Brick’s legacy of publishing distinctive, resonant voices from the Atlantic edge. Together, these poets reflect the depth and range of Brick’s catalogue, from groundbreaking debut collections to works that have shaped the Canadian canon.

Live music by Ellie Hamilton and Hannah Russell – talented local musicians and Writers at Woody Point summer assistants – adds to the spirit of celebration.
