This is a marvellous book! Mia Anderson takes a great running leap at life, and embraces it at full speed. Her writing reminds me of Don McKay’s fine work. It fairly jumps off the page. It arrests me. It’s remarkably accomplished and texturally layered. There is music and laughter and camaraderie among the words—let alone between the covers of the book…. Appetite is the ultimate argument against stuffed shirts and stodgy language, and is the necessary anodyne to easy straight ahead prosaic poetry…. I must add finally that this book possesses one of the most appropriate epigraphs I have ever come across.
