The glosa is an early renaissance form, first developed by the poets of the Spanish court. In Hologram, celebrated poet P.K. Page offers us fourteen of these elegant, intricate poems, each a homage to another poet. She explains in the Foreword, "... it occurred to me that now, towards the end of my life, it would be appropriate to use this form [glosa] as a way of paying homage to those poets whose work I fell in love with in my formative years". These writers are as diverse as Dylan Thomas, Rainer Maria Rilke, Elizabeth Bishop, Leonard Cohen, W.H. Auden, George Seferis, Sappho, T.S. Eliot, Pablo Neruda, D.H. Lawrence, George Woodcock, Robert Graves, Wallace Stevens and Mark Strand.

It is a stunning volume, of great range, depth, and technical mastery: a tribute not only to the writers represented in its pages, but also to the unsung art of reading, to which all who love literature, writer and non-writer alike, are apprenticed. Above all, it is a tribute to life, and to the life of the planet which, more delicately than we had imagined, sustains us.

The poem "Planet Earth" from this book was chosen by the United Nations in 2000 for their celebratory program Year of Dialogue among Civilizations.
